A Divine Thirst

Psalms 42:1-2
1 To the chief Musician, Mas'-chil, for the sons of Ko'rah.
As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
KJV

Jesus said they that thirst after righteousness shall be filled. And to be full is a good feeling. And
to be filled with right standing and fellowship with God is beyond feeling. It is the reality of the
abundant life of God. A reality with nothing void or empty. A reality of the perfect will of God at all
times. Every person can be filled with this. But first they must thirst for it.

A person will normally drink of what they thirst for. Good or bad. Hot or cold. That is what they will
drink of and that is what they will be filled with, and what they are filled with will be their appetite
suppressant or satisfaction. What they are filled with will be their source of energy or lack of
energy. What they are filled with will be what makes them what they are and it is what gives them
their identify by which others will see what or who they are . You can identify a drug addict by
their consumption from their appetite, a drunk the same way, a glutton, a liar, a seducer, a thief
and etc. What ever you partake of will sooner or later identify you as to who or what you are.

Jesus told the disciples that by their love one for the other people would know that they were his
disciples. But first there would have to be the presence of that love. And where did that love
come from. It was shed abroad in their hearts by the Holy Ghost as a result of their thirsting after
Jesus and being born again.

What you thirst after is what you will pursue. Now in that pursuit you will be tempted to thirst after
other things if your pursuit is Jesus. Why? Because the God of this world, Satan does not want
you full of the life of God because then you will cause others to thirst after Jesus. So temptations
come. But in your thirst for God you resist them, flee from them, and fight them and repent if you
do get side tracked but your thirst will keep you in pursuit for God.
How do I keep that thirst for God dominant in my life? Don't drink of anything else. David said it
right. As the Hart panteth for the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee O God. My, soul
thirsteth for God, for the living God.....

You drink nothing but the living water. That means you will have to guard what comes to you
through your senses. If it is not something that will make you thirst for God or what God has
prepared for you. Then you do not allow it into your being. Here is a good place to practice –

Hebrews 12:1-2
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay
aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the
race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him
endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
KJV

Do not be detoured from the living water and you will find satisfaction for your soul.
Godly satisfaction for the life you now live.
