Crying Out For Your Children
                                                                                                Part 1

I know of no more desperate cry than that of a parent for the sake of their child.  Regardless of your status or cast in society the
need to have your child helped in time of need is the same. Let's look at 3 examples in the New Testament that will serve as
guidelines for us as parents today. Guidelines of faith which come by the word of God. Faith that will not fail as that parent cries out
for their child.
There is Jairus, a man of wealth. But wealth would not answer his cry for his 12 year old daughter at the point of death who did die
before he arrived home with Jesus.

Mark 5:22-42
22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that
she may be healed; and she shall live.
24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew
worse,
27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched
my clothes?
31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest
thou the Master any further?
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them
that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great
astonishment. KJV

Notice that he fell at Jesus feet in verse 22. One must always humble themselves in the presence of the Lord in order to stand
boldly against the destroyer.
On the way Jesus was held up a little while to heal a woman who had been sick for years.  Don't panic Jesus is never late to answer
your cry. Then some folks from Jairus’s home came and told him not to bother Jesus anymore because his daughter was dead.
Verse 35. Then Jesus said to him “Be not afraid, only believe" Verse 36. When demonstrating your faith in God there will always be
the voices of those who will speak doubt and despair in your ears to bring you out of faith through unbelief .And there will always be
Jesus to speak faith unto your ears by his Spirit with his word. You have to make the choice of who you will listen to and who you will
believe. Jairus believed Jesus and his daughter lived. Praise The Lord

Then there is the Syrophenician woman in Mark 7:24-30.

Mark 7:24-30
24 And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man
know it: but he could not be hid.
25 For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:
26 The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her
daughter.
27 But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.
28 And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs.
29 And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.
30 And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed. KJV

She needed her demon possessed daughter to be healed. The lesson I have always learned from this is not the great faith that got
her daughter healed and set free from the demonic powers.  No there is more. It was the humility and wisdom that she demonstrated
that allowed her to speak what needed to be spoken to the question asked and respond in humility and wisdom when the degrading
accusations came. That refusal to be in pride or be offended. The lesson. The humility and wisdom that demonstrated her faith.  In
your great moment of need satan will often try to bring you into offence and pride. Offended people never make a show of faith,
only a show of their hurt feelings. Too often with retaliation to the source of the offence. Thus they wrestle against flesh and blood
with no demonstration of faith in God. She did not get into pride for pride simply goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before
a fall.  Let us learn this mother of faiths lesson.

Then there is the centurions sick daughter in Luke 7:2-10

Luke 7:2-10
2 And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.
3 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.
4 And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:
5 For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.
6 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him,
Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:
7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.
8 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come,
and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
9 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto
you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
10 And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick. KJV

Possibly this may be the greatest lesson of all. Just hear the word of God and know that it is God acting on your behalf. When you
have the Word of God in your presence you have the one that worketh in you to will and do of his good pleasure in your presence.

John 1:1-5
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. KJV

And He will always hold everything together for you!

Colossians1:17
17 And He Himself existed before all things, and in Him all things consist (cohere, are held together). [Prov 8:22-31.]  AMP

                                                                             Crying Out For Your Children
                                                                                               Part 2

Psalms 34:6
6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. KJV

Yesterday we talked about 3 different sets of parents who cried out for the sake of their children and Jesus responded to each plea
and healed their child. Actually they were not sets of parents, for only one parent is listed crying out for their child in each case. I
do not know what the other parent was doing but I do know the one that is listed got the need of their child fulfilled. I just want to
say for single parents, whatever the reason being that you are single, do not be detoured when it comes to crying out for your
child. Your faith in God will be enough. Praise The Lord!

There is yet another parent listed in MK.9:14-27.

Mark 9:14-27
14 And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.
15 And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him.
16 And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them?
17 And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;
18 And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to
thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.
19 He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.
20 And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed
foaming.
21 And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.
22 And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion
on us, and help us.
23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit,
I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. KJV

Unlike the 3 other parents who cried out for their children in faith, this man demonstrated no faith. Rather he said to Jesus “if you
can do anything for my son do it" Jesus could have stopped and healed the child right then without any problem just out of his
compassion. Like in Matt.9:35-36.

Matthew 9:35-36
35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and
healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as
sheep having no shepherd. KJV

But Jesus wanted this man to know not only what his responsibility as a parent to that child was, but also what his ability as a parent
in faith could get done for his child. So Jesus said to the man it is not an issue of what I can do. What can you believe me to do for
your child? He was stretching the mans faith the way many people should have there faith stretched today so they can know what
their God given faith in God, not their faith in their faith but their faith in God can do!
When the father of the child saw the responsibility placed on him where it should be. The father repented and cried out and said
with tears Lord I believe, helpest thou mine unbelief. And in that moment Jesus healed the child! Praise The Lord!   What was the
father’s unbelief? His sick child. I am not saying a parent should never seek out faith filled people to agree with them. On the
contrary. I am saying take your responsibility first, by using your God given faith and authority over and for your children. And then
if you need help go get it. In all four of these instances only one parent mentioned. It was enough. If not Jesus would have told
them what to do. He would never have left them helpless.

One thing I have learned from being 10,000 miles from my children and 16 grandchildren is my faith will work from here and as
adults with children my children must demonstrate their own faith. Pastor John Osteen used to say every tub must stand on its own
bottom. Go ahead parents see if you really have faith and back away from your children and let them stand on their faith in God
that you taught them. Sometimes it will be a challenge as a parent to do that. But you need it, your children need it and your
marriage probably needs it :)
