I Know Him

Jeremiah 9:24
24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which
exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the
LORD.
KJV

Jeremiah is a book of heart ache and heart break. It is the divine judgment and sentence of God upon
Israel and Judah for forsaking him and turning to idolatry. And having turned to idolatry they glory in it. But
it is here that the Lord gives a verse that can return them to him. And it is when I read this verse it always
makes me rejoice and thank God that he not only knows me but I know him.
He says if you are going to glory, glory in the fact that you know me. There are many definitions of the word
glory here in this usage. And there are four that I want to mention.
He says if your going to celebrate anything celebrate the fact that you know me and that you know me in
my loving kindness. Just throw a party of celebrating my loving kindness that I have always exercised to
you, Boy how we as the saints of God can celebrate this today.
The second word for glory is boast. David said I will boast in my Lord all the day long. I like to boast in the
judgment of God. It is always correct ever judging for the benefit of the child of God. For their good, their
growth and their service toward him. He judges against every accusation against them and in that judgment
proclaims to the darkness of hell I can judge my children but you leave them alone. I like that and I like to
boast in the Lord about it.
The third word I want to use for glory is shine. We all understand that don't we. We all have areas in our life
where we shine. That means we have areas that we are particularly good at and we stand out in that area
or we shine. When I think about the Lord knowing me and me knowing him in his righteousness I like to
shine for My Lord so all can see me shine and in that shine they too may come to know him and his loving
kindness, and his judgment and righteousness on our behalf. I remember when my Father was alive and in
business together that sometimes I would answer the phone, the party calling would say Jessie which was
my father’s name. I would just shine. So proud to just sound like him. The more so for God my Father I like
to shine and be just like him.
And the last word I want to use for glory is rave. Everybody knows what it is to rave in a good way. Well I
like to rave about the Lord. For it is in our celebrating him, boasting in him, shining for him and raving for
him that he delights. And it gets no better than to have the Lord delight in you. Much better than having
him judge you in sin and placing a divine sentence up on you. Women rave about a new hair do or style.
Men rave about their golf score or car etc. Why don’t we just all go public and rave about the Lord. In that
sense I guess you could call me a raving lunatic. Because I am crazy about the Lord. My friend when you
glory in the Lord there is no one else to glory in and the Lord will stay strong on your behalf.
