Psalms 11:5
5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
KJV

Have you ever wondered why the Lord tries the Righteous? Have you ever read this verse of scripture and said Father you
know me, you know my frame that it is but dust, you know my thoughts, you know my coming in and my going out, you know
my up setting and my down setting. So why try me? Have you ever ask Him or do you just read this verse and let it slip by
with out any understanding as I think we so often do.
Why did Jesus ask Peter three times, do you love me? He knew what Peters answer was going to be each time. But he still
ask him. Peter at one time had been so sure of himself that he told Jesus he would never deny him, yet he did, not only
once but three times. Peter backslid over it and went back to his old trade of fishing as did some of the others. Now Jesus
was looking at Peter as he had come back to Him and He was trying him. He was allowing Peter to see about himself what
He already new about him and it was important for Peter to know about himself as Jesus knows him for when a man knows
himself he will not be self-sure about what he will say and do. He will be God sure because he has already seen the
instability and failure of flesh assurance and we see Peter in his God assurance on the day of Pentecost what he preached
this time instead of backsliding and 5000 were saved.
To try the righteous God examines, investigates and gives the righteous an understanding of who they are, what they can
do and the strength they will do it in the light of His word, so that person will not be self sure but God sure because as he
has seen him self in the light of God's word as did Peter, he will now make the necessary adjustments to be God sure.
In this trying process God will often let us see and go through things just as He did Peter and it is here again that we will
see the integrity of who and what we are so again we will make necessary adjustments in our life to be all that we were
created to be and do all we were designed to do.
How often will we be tried by God like this?
As often as it takes to keep you God sure instead of self-sure.
