THE OIL
Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead;
and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord; and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bond men.
And Elisha said unto her what shall I do for thee? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not anything in the house, save a pot of
oil. Then he said, go borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbors, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. And when thou art
come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and thy sons, and shalt poor out unto all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside
that which is full. So she went from, and shut the door upon her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her, and she poured
out. And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet another vessel more.; And he
said unto her , There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed, Then she came and told the man of God. And he said. Go, sell
the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest. 2 Kings 4:1-7
Here again is another destitute person with a need beyond their ability to do anything about it. They think. In a way there is
nothing uncommon about this situation today except that the woman cried out to God instead of applying for another credit card.
Facts; People were getting into debt then as now and the creditors were coming to take the collateral away as they do today.
And there is always a better way out when we cry out to God. There was a miracle involved but it would not happen with out the
cooperation of the woman. So often the way out of these situations does not seem to reveal itself but in reality they always do,
for God always responds to the cry of faith with a plan of action that will redeem us from destruction. Too often we unlike the
woman here do not do our part or work with the plan given.
The plan always begins with us where we are with what we have. This woman took what she had, did what she was told to do
which is an act of faith and step by step her need was fulfilled. She paid the debt and there was left over money to live on which
says now as well as then .Our God is a God of more than enough. So many times we could avoid the destitute need in our
finances if we would just obey the word of God concerning finance. Let me list a few things God said to do with money to assure
our need supplied for he did say:
Philippians 4:19
19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. KJV
2 Corinthians 8:9
9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through
his poverty might be rich. KJV
Here is your list;
Malachi 3:6-11
6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
7 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I
will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?
8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the
LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough
to receive it.
11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast
her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. KJV
Luke 6:38
38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give
into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. KJV
Galatians 6:6-10
6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life
everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. KJV
2 Corinthians 9:6-12
6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful
giver.
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every
good work:
9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.
10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the
fruits of your righteousness;)
11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
12 For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings
unto God; KJV
If you have obeyed the word in these areas for sure by careful examination with all faith and consistency. And you stand fast in
Hebrews 10: 35-36. And you are in the will of God for sure. For Gods will done Gods way will always have Gods support. And
you still find your self to be that poor man then cry out and God will give you the plan to bring you out.
