The Problems Were Nailed To The Cross

Colossians 2:8-23
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men,
after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the
body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation
of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened
together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and
took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over
them in it.
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new
moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels,
intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
19 And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment
ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the
world, are ye subject to ordinances,
21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the
body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

There are things that satan doesn’t care if the saints know and there are things he doesn’t want
the saints to know. And the things he doesn’t want us to know are the things that allow us to live
free of his threats and condemnation. And in this passage of scriptures is one of those things he
doesn’t want us to know.

This one thing among the many that are written in these few verses is found in verse fourteen.
Everything that kept us in legal bondage. Denying us the liberty of the Holy Ghost and the freedom
of Christ lifestyle delivered to us by grace was nailed to the cross with Jesus. The difference is this.
When Jesus resurrected after reducing satan to naught in the pits of hell and making an open
show of satans defeat. The other things that had robbed us of the fullness of Christ grace did not
resurrect. That is why Paul said "That I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and the
fellowship of his suffering, and be made conformable to his death. Ph. 3:10

Paul said number one I want to just know him as my Lord and my Savior. I just want to know my
name is written in the lamb’s book of life and that I am washed in His blood and sanctified in Jesus
redemptive work. That I am now alive in the state of redemption.

Number two I want to know the power of His resurrection. The power that raised Him from the dead
leaving the bondage of legalism in the ground and having authority over all the powers of the devil.
That I might live that sanctified life to the glory of God. Resurrection power over sin, sickness and
disease. Resurrection power to bury what would bury me. Resurrection power to walk in the
likeness of Jesus. Resurrection power to walk in the completeness that I have been made in Christ
Jesus.

Number three I want to know Him in the fellowship of His suffering. Not that of the cross for He did
that for me. Not suffering of lack or want. For He did not have lack or want. But the fellowship of His
suffering in submission that was able to say “thy will be done Father not mine”. The suffering of
submission that yields your will to the will of another. So that I as He may always say to the Father
thy will be done not mine.

Number four I want to be made conformable to His death. Why His death? Because having died to
sin I will live unto the father. Where as Jesus died once we die daily. Crucifying the flesh anew
everyday having a new walk with the Father every day and every day the Father shows us
something new about the newness of life in the Son. Paul said it again this way "God forbid that I
should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me,
and I unto the world.

Is there now any doubt in your mind why satan doesn’t want us to know what was nailed to the
cross with Jesus. The legal decrees that would have robbed us of the fullness of Him that filleth all
in all.

The full redemptive work of Jesus Christ.
