WHERE JESUS SITS
Colossians 3:1-3
1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
KJV
When you and I are born again the powers of darkness work with a constant intense effort to have our attention they need our
attention to tempt us to sin. Attention gotten gives opportunity for our consideration to be given to the temptation. Consideration
given is liable for a decision to accept or reject the temptation. Accepted that temptation can lead to spiritual death being the
ultimate goal. That temptation rejected keeps us living in the overcoming victory of Jesus Christ and the powers of darkness suffer
loss of any gain they would have gotten through your acceptance of the temptation. But you say you thought about the
temptation. That was the point of tempting you, to get you to think about it, (consideration) but by the grace of God, the presence
of the Holy Spirit, and the word of God you rejected the temptation. The longer the consideration of the temptation the more apt to
make a decision for (as they say in star wars) the dark side. Something else that may help you is to know a thought not spoken or
acted upon dies unborn. When the temptation comes turn your thoughts immediately towards heavenly thoughts or the word of
God and what ever sense gate the temptation is coming through bring quickly into submission.
Much fall to temptation could be avoided by following the prescription Paul has given in Colossians 3:1-3.
Colossians 3:1-3
1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
KJV
The word “seek” here means to worship. To worship is for your recreated spirit to respond to his creator. So Paul said to respond
to those things above where Christ sets at the right hand of God. Then he said set your affections on those things. Affections here
means to interest ones self on those things above where Christ sits at the right hand of God.
If we will effectively avoid the liability for consideration of decision for the presented temptation. We should respond with intense
interest to the things above where Christ sits at the right hand of God. If we are to respond to those things then those things must
be calling unto us. We will recognize their voice and we will constantly be giving consideration liable for the decision for those
things above and not below ever keeping us walking in the overcoming victory of Jesus Christ .
When I first read this passage my question was. What are those things above where Christ sits at the right hand of God? Here is
what I found. Number one is the will of God for your life. His will for all his children in general and for your personal life as to who to
marry, what job to take, what house to buy, how many children to have and the list goes on to every area of your life for every day
of your life. From the right hand of God where Jesus is seated as our example. The will of God calls out to you and I and awaits
our response. Response to the will of God will not leave you in the will of the dark side. Though we may be in the will of God we
can still have areas of disobedience in our lives. Thus obedience is the second of those things above where Christ sits on the
right hand of God that calls out. Again Jesus being our example. He always did those things that pleased the Father.
John 8:29
29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
KJV
Disobedience on a constant or habitual basis will take us out of the will of God. However correction of the disobedience by
repentance and prayer will leave us in the will of God where we reap the blessings of God.
Third of those things above where Jesus is seated at the right hand of God to call out is submission. Again Jesus being the perfect
example. Submission is not agreement with God.
Matthew 26:39-42
39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me:
nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it,
thy will be done.
KJV
Submission is not easy.
Hebrews 5:5-9
5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten
thee.
6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was
able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
KJV
Submission is yielding our will to the will of another. Yield to sin or God it is still yielding our will and will submitted will yield the body
for use to which it is submitted. We all can agree with God that is easy. But when we don't agree can we submit our will to him so
that his will can be done not ours. Jesus yielded his will to the Father. And the Fathers will took him to the unjust court room falsely
accused and condemned. To a beating and a crown of thorns and ridicule of man. To the cross. To the tomb. To hell. To heaven
where he presented his blood that satisfied the justice league of heaven and gives every person the opportunity to become a child
of God. Yielding to the Fathers will like Jesus may take you where you don't want to go but it will also take you into the perfect will
of God.
Your will submitted to God’s will leaves obedience a daily step instead of a struggle of decision to obey.
When we respond to these three we will find our self seemingly different in our daily life. This is called the holiness of God being
Holy as He is Holy. Go on and respond to those things above where Christ sits at the right hand of God. Your response is the
enabling power to walk in God’s will for your life in obedience to submission to his will which is always victory in Jesus.
